Preservation of historic records
The Sullivan County Archives officially opened in 2004 and is preserving various groups of records and manuscripts. Emphasis is being placed on preserving the county's oldest governmental records as well as local artifacts and manuscripts. The Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society has been a tremendous asset to the Archives records preservation process.

Preservation of historic sites
Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism is greatly interested in preserving historic sites thoughout the county. From an old log cabin to a long-forgotten ferry, it is imperative that we preserve our local history. The Sullivan County Historic Preservation Association and the Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society have both been instrumental in presrving Sullivan County's historic sites.
