Exchange Place: Gaines-Preston Farm living history
An exciting living history farm, the Exchange Place in Sullivan County was once a community that served as a self-supportion plantation, a relay station along the Old Stage Road and the Post Office for Eden’s Ridge.  The Gaines-Preston Farm recaptures life in the early 1800s.  The historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Exchange Place is committed to preservation of 19th century agricultural life, and period livestock now reside on the farm. Domestic skills including washing, spinning, weaving, ironing, quilting, candle dipping and basketry are frequently demonstrated during festivals and by special arrangements.
