SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Eugene L. Ison Collection contains postcards, newspapers and photos from 1917 through 1939 from the United States, Germany, and France. The collection contains some rare vintage regional postcards, and many from across the U.S. The collection also contains some rare newspapers published between 1917 and the 1940s (not inclusive). Many items pertain to World War I.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Eugene L. Ison was born 6 January 1893 in Letcher County, Kentucky. He died 15 August 1965 at the Veterans Administration Center in Johnson City, Tennessee, and is buried at the American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.

Postcard Collection, United States, 1915-1939. Collection includes numerous vintage postcards, and includes postcard photographs from various states and cities: In Tennessee, the city of Bristol; in Virginia, the cities of Abingdon, Appalachia, Bristol, Penningtop Gap, Petersburg; in Kentucky, the cities of Corbin, Cumberland Falls, Lexington, Louisville, Shelby Gap; in West Virginia: Asco, Charleston and Huntington. Numerous other postcard locations are included. Other states include Indiana, Hawaii, Michigan, Texas, Nebraska, Ohio and others.
