SCOPE AND CONTENT
This collection of Girl Scout documents formerly belonged to the Bristol Council of Girl Scouts (Bristol, TN/VA) from ca1946 to 1954. During this time, the Bristol Council of Girl Scouts merged with the Appalachian Girl Scout Council. Some of the items include newsletters, records of camp donations, minutes of camp meetings, donation cards for donations used to purchase Camp SkyWaMo, which was located in Chinquapin near Bluff City in Sullivan Co., TN. Collection also includes The Girl Scout Leader, a periodical published in February 1934 by the National Girl Scout Council. Other places mentioned include, but are not limited to, Johnson City (Washington Co., TN); McDowell Co., WV, Forsyth Co., NC, and Decatur, GA.
The collection was believed to have belonged to an unknown person who later donated it to the Bristol Council of Girl Scouts. Ms. Hale came into possession of collection ca1998, and she donated it to the Sullivan County Archives on November 13, 2006.
