SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Walter Wampler Collection consists of three (3) Weaver Community Scrapbooks from Weaver Community of Sullivan Co., TN, 1952-1957 (not inclusive); six (6) Elk Garden Store Ledgers of Russell Co., VA, 1900-1932 (not inclusive); and old business documents from Russell Co., VA store, c. 1915-1925 (not inclusive).
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Walter J. Wampler was born 1924 in the Weaver Community in Sullivan Co., TN, to Samuel J. Wampler (1883-1958) and Mary Rachel Montgomery (1892-1959). Samuel J. Wampler was the son of David Wampler and Rosanna Booher, and Mary Rachel Montgomery was the daughter of David K. Montgomery and Sarah Frances Garrett.
