SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Caldwell Family Collection contains a 3-ring binder of Caldwell family memorabilia. Sullivan Co., TN Letters and correspondence include items regarding John H. Caldwell and Mrs. Joseph A. Caldwell. Also included is certification that the Old Deery Inn has been entered on The National Register of Historic Places by the Tennessee Historical Commission, 7 May 1973. Includes the will of George A. Caldwell of Bristol, Tennessee, 16 Jun 1896.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Judge Joseph Anderson Caldwell (1884-1963) was the son of John Henderson Caldwell and Margaret M. Anderson. Judge Caldwell married in 1937 to Virginia Byars (1901-1999). About 1940, Judge and Mrs. Caldwell bought the old Deery Inn property Blountville, Sullivan County, Tennessee, making the Inn their home for the remainder of their lives.
